APRICOT'2001
Dear all, I have done the first discussion of ProvReg at the APRICOT'2001 today. Some NICs has expressed their shock this Working Group wish to push thru the Protocol, given that there are so many differences in policy, management and business models. Even among the Asian NICs, they do not have uniformed policy yet. Some feedback that this group can feel free to do what they like but if it the result is not suitable, they will just ignore it. A personal note from me (and I shall go into silence again until I have my I-D): While I understand there is a lot of ICANN pressure and commerical interest to push thru ProvReg quickly (heck, I work for a company which provides Registry Outsourcing too like some who is pushing this), I think we also need to consider there are many registries (mostly non-profit) in the world out there who barely struggle with their current operation. Having a rigid, complicated protocol will only make life more difficult for them without the right sets of tools. Don't forget them in your equation while you chase for the $$$. -James Seng
