As with email, I've had URL which is not active anymore.
(Actually, it is now owned by somebody else!)
How do you authenticate the owner of a URL?
I have a domain (thus the URL) that does not belong to me
anymore.

I still think that using email address as *part of* [NIC] handle
(not the whole handle) is a good idea.
If you change your email address, that's ok
as long as that handle is associated with the new address.
It's just a string right?
