Well, there's the possibility that it's bogus (possibility of getting it
wrong or a typo).  And I, as a registrar, would rather not inconvenience
the user with relatively lengthly process of email confirmations, etc,
just to find out at the last step that the auth info provided earlier is
invalid (when the registrant might not be at my beck and call to enter a
new value at that time).
