As somebody (James?) has pointed out, there are many applications of this protocol. It is not a good idea to restrict the protocol for DNS *only*. For example, the protocol can be used to provide information such as: - cell phone database - URL redirection, Web site directory - SMS - paging - etc. etc. However, if we go for broader term/application, we may not get this protocol up and running quickly.
