Hi Scott,

sorry for the confusing text, I should practice english more often ;-) . Your
second interpretation is right - I meant the registry billing of the
registrar. I just wanted to explain where I see a value for the registrars.
The serial number and the amount was meant to be created by the registry.

In addition, I didn't want to make a concrete proposal, instead, I wanted to
discuss whether such an extension would make sense. I myself am not quite
convinced about it! Nevertheless, as we (hopefully) make standards, we should
think about whether we should standardize such aspects like accounting also.
Such a standard does not need to be a part of EPP or GRRP neccessarily. I can
also imagine other ways: e.g. a daily report in XML format, where I get
notified about it via EPP ("Hey, we've got your account report for 2001-06-27
ready, download it via the URL ..."). As a registrar, I could make some
assumptions about the costs my requests produced - which may be false - and,
at the end of the day, I can correct my accounts with the help of these
reports.

regards,

Klaus Malorny
